Don't ask why but my school's literary magazine was entitled Baily's Beads. Basically, every year this magazine is published with work from students as well as faculty and members of the local community. Due to the sheer nature of how awesome I am, I had two pieces of my writing included in this years edition and I must say that they are quite possibly the two best pieces of literature ever written. Period. One of these spectacular pieces of writing to warp your perception of what you thought was capable of emerging from the depths of the human mind was my poem, "Go Get Your Heartbeat." That poem was spawned in the beginning poetry class I mentioned previously in a fantastic hell spawn of deep emotions, college experiences and kick ass metaphors.
Many people contribute to the magazine and the committee sifts through all the submissions, filtering out the ones they feel aren't quite up to snuff with the requirements of the magazine. The other piece of writing I was able to fandango into the magazine was called "Broadband Sidekick." Essentially Broadband Sidekick is a coming of age tale that describes personal experiences I've had throughout life and is told in a humorous, serious and emotional manner fun for all ages! It is one of the pieces I like to say I'm quite proud of and while it likely still needs a bit of work, I'll be adding it here a bit later (totally forgot my thumb drive or I'd add it now.)
At the Baily's Beads ceremony, I chose to read a piece that was not submitted to the magazine. I figured hey, if people want to read something I've already done they can just read the magazine. I chose to read the story you've all become excellently acquainted with called "As Cold as Ice," (the revision.) The story seemed to go over well with the crowd although I'm still not fully happy with it. I'm trying to make the piece overly dramatic but at the same time I think it needs to flow better which is something I'm working on.
